Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Brand

Q: What is the idea behind SoSkild?

A: SoSkild offers ultimate protection for your smartphone so that you do not have to worry if you accidentally drop it. SoSkild was devised by Dutch designers who are graduates from Delft University of Technology.

Q: What makes SoSkild unique?

A: SoSkild was developed to protect mobile phones from damage when dropped or knocked. We can offer this protection thanks to our Zigzag structure® which has also been tested by TÜV Nord. Lastly, we provide a lifelong guarantee on all cases.

Product

Q: What kind of products do you have and why do you sell these products in particular?

A: The SoSkild portfolio consists of three types of cases and a screen protector so that any consumer can protect the smartphone as he or she wishes. The ultimate protection is, in fact, not the same for everyone. While one person will want good protection but will also want his telephone to be visible as much as possible, another will want to be able to store his bank cards in the case and have even more protection. In order to fulfil all these needs we have developed three types of cases.

Q: What kind of material is used to make the case?

A: The exterior of our cases is made from robust TPU. The Zigzag structure® of the Defend cases is made from TPE, which is even more robust and harder. As a result we can be sure that any impact is properly absorbed. The flap of the Defend Wallet is made of PU. The transparent material of the cases is made from a kind of TPU which scarcely discolours or does not discolour at all.

Q: Does Crystal Glass offer better protection than a normal plastic film screen protector?

A: The SoSkild Crystal Glass is made from Twice Tempered Glass. Tempering is a process whereby glass is slowly heated so that the molecules can move about freely. When the glass is cooled quickly, crystals are produced which are stronger than normal glass. Repeating this process creates extra hard Twice Tempered Glass Crystal Glass.

Q: What do the Diamond Shaped Corners do which you can see on each case?

A: The so-called diamond shaped corners are corners which are not rounded but which consist of small square areas or facets. These facets ensure that whenever the case is dropped onto one of its corners it does not bounce straight up, but instead comes to rest very quickly. Consequently the case does not bounce very much and that reduces the risk of damage when dropped.

Testing and research

 Q: What is TÜV Nord?

A: TÜV Nord is an institution which carries out independent quality checks. The disciplined approach and strict checks means that a TÜV certification is only granted for high-quality products. We are allowed to use certification 2400-B-401 on our Defend cases and Defend Wallet cases.

Q: What exactly did TÜV Nord test?
A: The protective effect of a case can be measured in all kinds of different ways. In order to simulate a repetitive impact, it is more accurate to fix the telephone in place and use a hammer blow than to drop the cases on the floor. This ensures that the impact is always the same and always at the same point. This is the test which TÜV carried out. The vibrations which are then transmitted into the telephone are measured. The fewer vibrations, the greater the protection.

Q: What was TÜV Nord's final conclusion?

A: 'TÜV Nord concluded that the SoSkild Defend and Defend Wallet offered up to 200% improved resistance to impact on the corner of the mobile telephone compared to the average of other protective cases'.

Returns and guarantees

Q: I want to return my product. How do I do that?

A. You may want to return your product for some reason. In that case you should contact the sales outlet at which you purchased your product. Often the retailer will ask for a receipt. So you should keep your receipt in a safe place! You can only return your SoSkild product, therefore, or return it to the store you purchased it from.

Q: I have a complaint about the product I want to claim under my guarantee.

A. We do everything we can to ensure product quality. Having said that, it may be that a product does not offer the promised level of quality. If this occurs during the statutory guarantee period of approximately 2 years, please contact the store you purchased it from. Often the retailer will ask for a receipt. So you should keep your receipt in a safe place! If this occurs outside the statutory guarantee period of 2 years, you should contact us directly. In that case you can claim under your guarantee via our website.

Q: Why am I being asked to contact the store I purchased the case from?

A: The employees who work in these stores are specialised in processing these kinds of damage complaints. They are more able to assess which steps have to be taken to provide you with the best systems. In addition to this the party that sold you the product directly is the legal guarantor.
